MONROE, La. (AP) - The Monroe City Council in two weeks will consider a 100 percent smoke-free ordinance.

The News-Star reports ( ) the proposal was introduction at Tuesday's meeting.

The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living requested the cities of Monroe and West Monroe and the Ouachita Parish Police Jury to consider the ordinance.

If approved, smoking will be prohibited in bars and bingo halls where smoking is still allowed.
