Teen arrested for a series of burglaries in Colfax

GRANT PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel  5) – Deputies arrest a teen for a series of burglaries, but in their attempt to recover stolen items at his residence they also find drugs.

According to Grant Parish Sheriff's Office, they have arrested Antonio Nichols, 18, of Colfax, for a series of burglaries in the Colfax area.

Deputies said they received several reports of multiple vehicle burglaries in the area. They also received reports of houses being burglarized, as well.  It wasn't long before detectives were on the case and identified Nichols as their primary suspect.

Detectives said they located stolen item in Nichols possession. They also searched his home and found 27 wrapped bags of marijuana that were ready to be sold. Twenty-one Trazodone pills were also said to be located in the home.

Nichols is charged with possession of intent to distribute marijuana, possession of legend drugs, five counts of simple burglary, two counts of trespassing, obstruction of justice and two counts of resisting an officer.

Bond is set at $66,000.
