Alexandria man allegedly tried to steal laptops from Walmart

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – A former employee of Walmart has been arrested for allegedly stealing from the company.

According to Alexandria Police Department, they have arrested Nathan Deal III, 23, of Alexandria, for trying to steal several laptops from Walmart.

 APD said an officer observed a male subject acting suspicious in the rear of the North Mall Drive Wal-Mart on September 12.  Through further investigation, the officer determined that a possible theft had occurred and attempted to detain the subject.

APD also said the subject tried to resist by fighting the officer, before leaving in his vehicle.

A pursuit followed and then finally ended with the man being taken into custody. The man was identified as Deal.

The laptops were recovered, according to APD.

Deal is charged with one count of felony theft, one count resisting an officer, one count of aggravated flight from officer, one count of suspended driver's license, one count no insurance, one count no license plates, and one count contempt of court.

The investigation is ongoing.
