Grant Parish drug dealer arrests

GRANT PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Traffic stop leads to seizure of 10 grams of meth and arrest of drug dealers.

According to the Grant Parish Sheriff's Office two drug dealers have been arrested following a traffic stop near Bentley. Deputies stopped a vehicle with Sonja Waites and Richard Mark Smith and discovered approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine and a pipe that was used to smoke methamphetamine. 

Sonja Waites, 44 years old, of 225 Burma Road Ball, La., was arrested for Possession of CDS II with the intent to distribute, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Improper Lane Usage, and Parole Violation. Richard Mark Smith, 50 years old, of 16352 Old Hammond Road, Baton Rouge, was arrested for Possession of CDS II with the intent to distribute, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Obstruction of Justice, and Resisting by False Information. GPSO said Smith initially told deputies that he was Richard Simmons, but they later discovered his true identity was Richard Mark Smith.

"We believe that we have gotten one of our bigger drug dealers off of the streets of Grant Parish with the arrest of Waites," said Sheriff Steven McCain.
