Cenla under burn ban

 LOUISIANA (KALB News Channel 5) –Due to dry conditions, Rapides, Grant, Avoyelles, among other parishes are now under a burn ban.  

The ban is for private burning, and only the local government or fire department can authorize special permission for burning.

All parishes in Louisiana under a burn ban at this time: Acadia, Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Calcasieu, Caldwell, Catahoula, Claiborne, DeSoto, Evangeline, Franklin, Grant, Jackson, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, LaSalle, Lincoln, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Rapides, Red River, Richland, Sabine, Union, Vernon, Webster, West Carroll, Winn.

The ban shall not apply to prescribed burns by the Department of Agriculture and Forestry or  by those who conduct prescribed burning  as a "general accepted agriculture practice" defined by Louisiana Right to Farm Law (R.S. 3:3601).  

The bans will remain in effect until rescinded.
