Campus Improvements at Brame Middle School

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) After months of overcrowded classrooms at Brame Middle School, two portable buildings have now been installed at the school.

"I do not know what a typical year is. Here at Brame each one is big and different every year. But this year the crowds came back that were here the last two years and we have been swamped with students. We have them and we got some teachers we are interviewing and we certainly have the kids to put in there so it is going to work," said Wally Fall.

Teachers say the addition of the portable buildings will help improve instructional time in the class room.

"I think it personally will really make a big difference in the sense that teachers can focus on the individual student and have more time with the individual student and have more time to explore subjects more in depth with fewer students. We are just ready for the portables to get open and we are ready to rock and roll."

"This is what we do and this is what we got in to and you know if you are going to sit around and make excuses for why something is not going to get anything done. It will help spread the load out across. It helps reduce the class sizes and it will really help out," said Kevin Malone.

As the school year moves forward, Brame's Principal says they are working towards the goal of having the portable classrooms ready for classes by the end of September.

"We are moving as fast as we can. I would have liked to see it back in the spring so we could have had it ready when we opened up and have it all in place. It did not work out that way but we are going to adjust. We are used to those kinds of things here at Brame and we will get over it," said Wally Fall.
