It's midweek and it's still hot.
The day began with temperatures slightly above normal. Jena, Oakdale, and Simpson fell to 69 degrees while the D.G. Hunter Power Plant in downtown Alexandria only dropped to 74 degrees. The 30-year daily average is 65 degrees and the record low is 46 set in 1903.
Daytime highs once again hit the 90s, with Bellwood at 99 degrees and Many and Peason Range at 98. In contrast, Natchez, Miss. reported 91 degrees. The 30-year daily average is 87 and the record is 101 set in 1906.
Thursday offers a 30% chance of rain as moisture begins to increase. But it will still be hot with highs in the lower to middle 90s.
