WASHINGTON, La. (AP) - State police have arrested a 32-year-old Bunkie man on felony theft and child-endangerment charges after he wrecked a vehicle in which he was riding with a 5-year-old child and a number of stolen items near Washington.

Troopers responding to the La. Highway 745 single-vehicle crash on Wednesday realized the pickup was suspected in a theft that recently occurred in the area.

They soon located two power generators and a pressure washer nearby, both of which had been stolen from a nearby residence.

Troopers say the driver, Jace Deshotels, was allegedly fleeing when he accidentally drove into a ditch. A 5-year-old child traveling with Deshotels sustained minor injuries.
It was unclear whether Deshotels has an attorney.
