APD arrest man for burglary

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5 ) –An Alexandria man has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing vehicles in the area.

According to Alexandria Police Department, they have arrested 57- year-old Bruce Brown of Alexandria for burglary.

APD said that an officer was on patrol around 10:25 p.m. on September 22, when he was flagged down and notified of a suspicious male that was in the yard of a residence near Hansel Drive.  A description was given of the suspect.  The suspect, Brown allegedly left on a bicycle and was located near Georgetown.

During the investigation, officers said they found several items on Brown's person that didn't belong to him. Further investigation found two vehicles in Hansel and Lancaster Street area had been burglarized.

Brown was arrested and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.

He is charged with one count of simple burglary, two counts of illegal possession of stolen things and one count of contempt of court.

APD would like to inform everyone that there has been an increase of burglaries and vehicle burglaries in recent months. The APD said that it is working to deploy additional officers in the affected areas, and potential target areas.  However, they are asking people to remove all valuables from their vehicles and to make sure to local their vehicles. They are also asking people to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
