Alexandria man arrested for allegedly stealing a cell phone

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – An Alexandria man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a cell phone.

According to Alexandria Police Department, they have arrested Charles Lewis Coutee, 39 of Alexandria, for allegedly stealing a phone from an AT&T store.

APD said that on Sept. 20 around 7 p.m., they were assisting a vehicle accident in the 1800 block of MacArthur Drive, when they were notified of a theft at the AT&T at the same location.

The officer was given a description of the suspect, Coutee. He was located and detained. He was later arrested and charged for cell phone theft.

APD said they did a warrant check and found that Coutee had three outstanding warrants for contempt of court. He was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center and charged with one count of theft more than $500 and three counts of contempt of court.

No other information has been released at this time.
