RPSO: Inmate at detention center dies

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – According to Rapides Parish Deputies Office, RPSO deputies at Detention Center One were notified on Sept. 19, around 3p.m. that an inmate was in need of medical attention.

Deputies said they responded to Marty Coleman's cell and rendered emergency medical attention until a Acadian Ambulance arrived. Acadian personnel took over medical attention and transported Coleman, 58, to a local hospital.  He was pronounced dead at the hospital. 

RPSO conducted an internal investigation. This is said to be standard procedure. Autopsy results are pending. 

RPSO said they believe at this time, no foul play was involved, but the investigation is ongoing.
