Woman killed in Sabine Parish car crash

SABINE PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) Sabine Parish Crash results in death of unrestrained woman.

According to Louisiana State Police, On September 25, a single vehicle crash killed a woman from Many, La. that was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected. Troopers responded to the crash around 4:15 a.m., which occurred on Peg Leg Lane near Old Hwy 476. The crash involved a 1996 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Tammy L. Sanders, 37. Louisiana State Police said the Chevrolet was westbound on Peg Leg Lane when Sanders lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a culvert and overturned.

Sanders was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. Louisiana State Police said the crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police said they would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists that properly wearing a seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. Troop E Troopers have investigated 32 fatal crashes in 2013, resulting in 33 fatalities.
