Police: Alexandria man arrested for attempted second degree murder

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – Police say they have arrested an Alexandria man for attempted second degree murder.

According to Alexandria Police Department, they have arrested 37-year-old James Edward Reed and charged him with one count of attempted second degree murder.

Officers were dispatched in January of 2013, to a residence on Harris Street in reference to a stabbing.  Officers said the investigation found that following a domestic related altercation, a victim was stabbed. 

Detectives assisted the case and issued a warrant for Reed's arrest, according to APD.

On Sept. 25, Reed was transported to Rapides Parish Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
