KOLIN, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – Detectives say they have arrested a man for a series of vehicle burglaries in the Kolin area.

According to Rapids Parish Sheriff's Office, they have arrested 26- year-old Brandon Coker and charged him with seven counts of vehicle burglary, one count of theft for $300, and contempt of court.

Deputies said between August 22 and August 28, they responded to a series of vehicle burglaries near Cannonball Lane. Victims reported waking up to discover their vehicles gone through and certain high value items taken such as wallets, electronics and firearms.  Most of the vehicles were left unsecure, according to RPSO.

Detectives from the Tioga Sub-station were assigned the case. One September 25, detectives said they developed information that led them to execute a search warrant of a residence. This resulted in the arrest of Brandon Coker, according to RPSO.

RPSO said Alexandria and Pineville detectives assisted in this investigation and were also able to solve several burglaries in their jurisdictions, as well.

Coker was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center where he remains on a $45,250 bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
