The Atlantic Basin remains inactive today; however, one system is being monitored for possible tropical development.
A tropical wave is interacting with an upper-level trough about 1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. This interaction is producing a large area of clouds and convection. Movement of this disturbed area of weather is toward the northwest. If this system holds together, it may earn the designation 96-L. Conditions are not favorable for tropical cyclone formation right now, but may become marginally favorable later this weekend.
