I've finished talking to the weather watchers and they said it was another pleasant day.
A touch of fall greeted early risers as they went to work and school. Low temperatures ranged from the middle 50s to the lower 60s. Thermometers in Leesville and Oakdale dropped all the way down to 56 degrees, but the D.G. Hunter Power Plant in Alexandria only fell to 63 degrees. These readings are seasonal-the daily average is 62 and the record is a chilly 41 set in 1899.
A cloudless sky turned the temperature around quickly by the afternoon as highs ranged from the middle 80s to the middle 90s. Once again, Natchez, Miss. was the cool spot with a high of 84 degrees. Bellwood hit 96 degrees, and was followed closely by Peason Range at 94. The daily average is 85 and the record is a post-Rita 98 set in 2005.
Little change in the ongoing weather pattern is expected Friday.
