Police: An Alexandria man arrested for simple burglary

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – Police say they have arrested an Alexandria man for burglary.

Alexandria police said they arrested 45-year-old Jerry L. Jones on Sept. 26, and charged him with one count of simple burglary and one count resisting an officer.

Police were dispatched to a residence on Levin Street around 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, in reference to a witness observing a man stealing a battery from a vehicle.

Officers said they were given a description of  the suspect, later identified as Jones.  According to APD, he was located, but once he spotted police, he attempted to flee the area. However, officers said he only made it to Hynson Street, before he was caught.

Jones was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
