UPDATE: I-49 now open after tanker truck fire

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Interstate 49 is now open between Meeker and Lecompte exits in Rapides Parish, according to state police.  

This includes both north and southbound lanes.

Both lanes were closed Monday morning due to a  tanker truck on fire.  All southbound traffic is being diverted from I-49 at exit 66, onto LA 112 to US 71 to US 167, back to I-49 at milepost 61.

KALB News Channel 5 will have more details as it becomes available.

Alexandria, La. (KALB News Channel 5)--I-49 is closed in both directions between the Meeker and Lecompte exits in Rapides Parish due to a tanker truck on fire. All southbound traffic is being diverted from I-49 at exit 66, onto LA 112 to US 71 to US 167, back to I-49 at milepost 61. 

Northbound traffic is being diverted in the reverse manner.  DOTD is en route with barricades and message boards.
