Government shutdown forces closure of Cane River Creole

NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB News Channel 5) –The government officially shutdown at midnight Tuesday and the shutdown has affected parks in the Cenla area.

The National Park Service (NPS) has closed all 401 national parks, including Cane River Creole National Historical Park, according to a release from NPS.  All visitor facilities including Oakland Plantation and the Magnolia Plantation complex are closed.   The Park Headquarters is also closed.

All special events have been canceled for the duration of the shutdown.

 The parks will remain closed until the government reopens.
