Tropical Storm Karen is located about 475 miles SSE of New Orleans. Movement is toward the NNW at 12 mph. The maximum sustained wind remains at 65 mph.
Karen is expected to gradually turn toward the north and slow down during the next two days. Karen may strengthen a bit tonight or Friday. The center of Karen will be at or near the Gulf Coast Saturday. This has prompted a Hurricane Watch from Grand Isle Louisiana to west of Destin Florida. A Tropical Storm Warning is also in effect for Grand Isle to the mouth of the Pearl River.
I think there is a good chance Karen will accomplish a double landfall: the first may be extreme SE Louisiana around Grand Isle/Southwest Pass; a second landfall would be between Gulfport/Biloxi to Mobile.
Tropical Storm Karen is not expected to affect central Louisiana weather.
