Karen dissipated this morning at 10am. While conditions are still present for cyclone development in October, we start to see more wind shear this time of year. For Karen, the wind shear and the dry air is what did her in.
The only other area of interest is some tight thunderstorm activity near the Cape Verde Islands. While conditions are currently conducive for development, this will chance later in the week. The National Hurricane Center has only given this are a 20% chance of development within the nest 48 hours.
Elsewhere the tropics are quiet. You can always monitor the tropics by checking our hurricane page here.
