Police: Alexandria man arrested for alleged domestic abuse, kidnapping

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – An Alexandria man is in jail tonight after police say he battered and kidnapped a woman from a residence.

According to Alexandria police, they have arrested 32-year- old Dontornious Mims for allegedly attacking and kidnapping a victim from a residence on Elliot Street.

Police said they were called to a residence in reference to a domestic-related altercation on October 3.  Police found that Mims entered a residence and battered the victim and then took her from the residence, according to APD.

Officers located Mims and took him into custody. A search resulted in officers finding suspected Xanax pills on Mims person, according to APD. Mims was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.

He is charged with one count of simple kidnapping, one count home invasion, one count of domestic abuse batter, and one count of possession of CDS Sch IV with intent.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries she received during the incident.

No other details have been released at this time.
