APD: Alexandria man charged with attempted second degree murder

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Police say an Alexandria man has been arrested for attempted second degree murder.

According to Alexandria police, 20-year-old Hoo Ngam Chau is accused of choking and battering a co-worker. He is charged with one count of attempted second degree murder.

Police say they were dispatched to the 3600 Block of North Mall Drive, in reference to a reported battery on September 30. Contact was made with the victim who reported that he and a co-worker got into an argument over money, according to APD.

APD said the victim was allegedly battered and choked by Chau. The victim was treated and released from the hospital for injuries he sustained during the altercation.

Chau was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing. No other details have been released at this time.
