As promised, the cooler and drier air arrived Sunday.
This morning's readings were the lowest of the young fall season. Bellwood and Jena reported 48 degrees while Winnfield and Ball/Tioga reported 49 degrees. Temperatures stayed as high as the mid-50s this morning at Esler airport with 56 degrees and Opelousas with 55 degrees. The daily average is 58 and the record is 37 set in 1964.
Afternoon highs stayed in the 70s despite strong sunshine. The exception was Bellwood with a high of 80 degrees. Natchez, Miss., was the cool spot with 73 degrees. The daily average is 82 and the record is 95 set in 1897.
The delightful October weather pattern continues through midweek. Enjoy!
