A tropical wave and a surface low pressure embedded in the monsoon trough in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean, about 350 miles SSW of the Cape Verde Islands, continue to produce disorganized cloudiness and convection. This system has been designated 98-L. Movement is slowly west-northwest. This system is a bit less organized than Monday but is still capable of developing into a tropical cyclone this week. Longer-range forecast models continue to predict a west to west-northwest motion with 98-L for 5-7 days.
Elsewhere in the Atlantic Basin, there are no promising systems being monitored for tropical cyclone potential.
