BOSSIER, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – Authorities said Monday they arrested a deputy and an inmate for conspiring to have sex.

According to Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington, detectives have arrested 38-year-old Donald R. Lewis of East Carroll Parish Sheriff's Office, and 20-year-old Shaquille King-an inmate at Bossier Medium Security Facility- for allegedly conspiring to have sex.

Following a two-week investigation, detectives said they learned what Lewis and King were planning. Detectives also said they learned Lewis was planning to bring tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana to the corrections facility, as well.

Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office said that Lewis traveled in his own vehicle from Lake Providence, a three hour drive, to meet King, Monday at the corrections facility.  King was serving as a trustee inmate at the Sheriff's Office pistol range.  Both admitted to knowing each other for years.

Once authorities learned of their plan they stopped Lewis' attempt to contact King, according to BPSO.

Lewis was charged with conspiracy to commit malfeasance in office – sexual conduct, conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution. His bond is set at $85,000.

King is charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution and three counts of inciting a felony. His bond is set at $50,000.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges may follow.

A slow "farmer's" rain fell across the area today as the area was blasted with tropical moisture to the south. As high pressure setup across the eastern U.S., tropical moisture banked up against it and consolidated across the northwestern Gulf of Mexico. As a trough approached from the west, the high pressure pushed eastward allowing the tropical moisture to finally move northward in bulk. These types of events can produce hefty rain events around here and this event did not disappoint. Attac...More >>
