In the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean, there are a couple areas of interest that we are monitoring for further development in the Atlantic Basin.
1) Invest 98-L
Over the Eastern Atlantic Ocean, there is a broad area of low pressure that is located a few hundred miles SSW of the Cape Verde Islands. This area is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. It is becoming a little better put together. Development, if any, could occur during the next couple of days. This system is moving slowly to the West & NW.
However, after the next day or two, this disturbance will move into an area where upper-level winds will become less conducive for development.
There is a MEDIUM chance (30%) of this disturbance becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours and a MEDIUM chance (40%) during the next 5 days.
