Cenla Gymnast Makes 'Dream Team'

Posted: Updated:

COPPELL, Tx. (KALB News Channel 5)- Alexandria native Annie Catherine Beard has been named to the prestigious 'Dream Team' at Texas Dreams Gymnastics in Coppell, Texas. This exclusive group of 20 upper level gymnastics is coached by former world champion and USA gymnast Kim Zmeskal-Burdette and her husband Chris Burdette.

In 1991, Kim Zmeskal became the first American to win the All-Around World Championship title. Texas Dreams is a leader in the gymnastics industry, and continues to be a training ground for some of the most talented gymnasts in the world.

Nine year old Annie also attended the camp of Bela Karolyi this summer at the official Olympic training site of the US National Team. Karolyi is the former coach of several Olympic gymnasts, including Mary Lou Retton and Kerri Strug, who he famously carried to the podium during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Ga.

Annie Beard was featured in our 'Young Achiever's Spotlight' last year. She is the daughter of Ronnie Beard and Jennifer Webb Beard of Alexandria.
