Operation Christmas Child

Posted: Updated:

Kingsville, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - It starts with something as simple as a shoe box and ends with a life changing gift.

Operation Christmas Child kicked off at the Kingsville Baptist Church.

Volunteers are planning to join millions in donating essential goods and toys to children who may have never received a gift in their lives.

Organizers of this year's drive say the act of kindness is as fulfilling for the children as it is for those who donate.

"People who can participate are individuals, families, it's a great family project if you have children, I know my children, when they were small always packed a box for a boy or girl, around their age because they knew what a child would like to see in a shoe box." Said Cheryl Forester.

Collection date for the shoe boxes is November 18th through 25th. For more information visit http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/
