NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – Authorities have apprehend an escaped trustee.

Natchitoches police said they located Randy Girod in a suspicious truck on a dead end road during a routine patrol around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers said the man admitted he was Girod, the walk-off trustee from Rapides Parish.  Girod was taken into custody and transported to the Natchitoches Police Department.  He is awaiting transport back to Rapides Parish by Corrections Security deputies. Girod will be booked for simple escape and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Girod, a trustee with a parish work crew near the old Oasis Truck Stop on U.S. 71 South, walked off the detail on Monday around 11:35 a.m.

He was said to have left the work site in a 2008 white Chevrolet extended cab truck, with an Oklahoma State University Alumni sticker in the back window. The truck was left unattended by another subject working at the location, according to RPSO.

Corrections Security investigators are still looking into whether or not he had any assistance in this walk off from a parish work crew.
