I am watching two systems today.
A broad trough of low pressure is producing a large area of cloudiness and convection a few hundred miles east of the Bahamas. Movement is toward the north and northeast at 10-15 mph. Slow development of this system is possible and it may earn the designation 99-L later this week.
A surface trough, system 98-L, continues several hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles and is producing disorganized cloudiness and convection. Movement is west-northwest at 10 mph. Upper-level winds are not favorable for development this week.
