Fort Polk, Pitkin, and Opelousas also reported a morning low of 70 degrees. Natchez, Miss. was the cool spot with a low of 64 degrees. The daily average is 55 and the record is 36 set in 1987.
Daytime highs were mostly in the 80s, with Marksville the warm spot with 87 degrees. The daily average is 80 and the record is 92 set in 1963.
A cold front is approaching and will move through central Louisiana Wednesday morning or midday. The front is expected to trigger rain and bring lower temperatures.
