Prayers for Jessica Guillot

Posted: Updated:

SIMMESPORT, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - A kidnapping has rocked the town of Simmesport and residents there are hoping for the best.

More than a month after her disappearance the residents of Simmesport still pray for Jessica Guillot and her family.

"She has two small kids, and I pray for them every day and every night," said Cynthia Collins.

The 22 year-old mother is still missing from her home on College Drive, and some fear the worst.

"I knew her mother and her sisters, she never did do nothing wrong. She was a nice girl. I hate to see something like that happen, I wish they would get together and try to find this girl so she can rest in peace," Said Terry Taylor.

After five suspects were arrested for kidnapping Guillot, others say they don't feel safe in their small town.

"People need to be aware of their surroundings and be aware of what's going on, and also take steps and avoid maybe putting yourselves in positions where you could become a victim," said Major Steven Martell.

As many questions remain unanswered-those in Simmesport say they are keeping Guillot's family in their thoughts.

"I would tell them to pray, I would tell them to pray. I lost a son in January, so I know basically what her mother is going through, I've known her mother all my life, she's a very good lady and she needs some closure to her situation, that's all we ask," said Hercules Rogers.

Those searching for Guillot say they will continue to look for closure.

"We will continue until there is some resolution to her disappearance," said Martell.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jessica Guillot is encouraged to call the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office at 318-253-4000.
