Additional arrests in dog fighting bust

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office detectives have arrested two more men in the ongoing investigation into the dog fighting ring uncovered earlier this month. 

Demetric Lannell Payne, 34, of Ball,  turned himself into Detectives. According to RPSO, he was charged with two Counts of Criminal Trespassing, a count of Simple Cruelty to Animals, a count of Dog Fighting, a count of Criminal Conspiracy and a count of Resisting by flight. 

Jerome Labeaud, 28, of Alexandria, also turned himself into detectives and was charged with two counts of Criminal Trespassing and a count each of Criminal Conspiracy, Dog Fighting and Resisting by Flight. 

Payne was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center and later released on a $6000 bond. 

Labeaud was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center and was later released on a $3,250 bond.

The investigation is still ongoing now into its second week and more arrests are expected in this case.  Anyone with information regarding this dog fighting ring on Gene Ball Drive are asked to contact Detective James Owens or Detective Winston Bell Jr. at 318-473-6727.
