Alexandria Dog Fighting

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) The number of arrests connected to an RPSO dog fighting investigation continues to increase.

"Our detectives have been looking into all of the possible suspects. We seized 16 vehicles the night of the investigation. Since then we have had several people come in and try and claim their vehicles and admitting that they were there and they are being subsequently charged with different charges," said Lt. Tommy Carnline.

While the RPSO continues to make progress in the investigation, the future looks dark for the dogs that were seized from the scene.

"The dogs that were taken you know by law they have to be euthanized. It is a sad thing that has to happen but the law is pretty clear. These are not the dogs you want loose in any neighborhood or you would want to see roaming the streets because they are aggressive and they are trained to fight or to kill other animals," said Henry Wimbley.

Deputies need help to put an end to the Tri-State dog fighting ring.

"It is still big. We know it spans at least three states. Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. The public partnering with law enforcement is what solves crimes. There are more public eyes out there than there are law enforcement eyes. If they see something suspicious, report it to us," said Henry Wimbley.
