GRANT PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) –  Grant Parish now has an animal control program.

This program will cover the towns of Colfax, Creola, Georgetown, Montgomery, and Pollock.  Grant Parish Sheriff's Office said that deputies have attended a training course at LSU in Baton Rouge to become certified animal control officers.   After class training, deputies spent two weeks with the Rapides Parish Sheriff's animal control program for field training.

GPSO would like to remind everyone to have a collar on their pets with the owner's name, address, and phone numbers on the collar.   GPSO is also acquiring a microchip reader to help identify animals that have been implanted with microchips.

If you think that your animal has been picked up or if you are interested in fostering an animal, call 627-3724.
