Temperatures climbed back above average as the new work week began today.
Dense fog greeted many commuters this morning as thermometers hovered in the 50s and the 60s. The lowest temperatures fell into the middle 50s, including Leesville and Oberlin with 56 degrees. The higher readings came in from the Alexandria metro, with International Airport at 65 degrees, and Good Earth, Charles Park, and Ball/Tioga with 64 degrees. The daily average is 51 degrees and the record is 31 set in 1914.
A partly sunny sky ensued during the afternoon, which coaxed temperatures into the middle 70s to the lower 80s. Simmesport was the warm spot with a high of 82 degrees while Natchez, Miss. and Winnfield saw 75 degrees. The daily average is 76 and the record is 89 set in 1907.
I expect fog again Tuesday morning, so be careful as you head out to your destination. Temperatures will warm mostly into the 80s during the afternoon.
