Trustee arrested for possession of a cellphone

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office arrests trustee for possession of a cellphone.

According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office, on October 30, 2013, the Deville Substation dispatcher received a call from an unknown number stating that the trustee working at the Substation was in possession of a cell phone. The Detective assigned to the Substation began his investigation and discovered that the trustee was in possession of a cell phone and gave information on how the cell phone was obtained. 

RPSO said the trustee, identified as Kristopher Gage Hedrick, 23, of Pollock, told investigators that the cell phone was left under a storage shed at Deville Substation for him. The cell phone was confiscated, and the trustee was placed under arrest and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Hedrick was charged with one count Introduction of contraband to a Correctional Facility. RPSO Detectives said the investigation continues, and additional arrests may be made.

"We treat cell phones in the possession of inmates as a direct threat to the safety of our deputies working in the jails and the security of the jails," said Sheriff William Earl Hilton.
