PONCHATOULA, La. (AP) - A federal judge has ordered attorneys in the Tangipahoa Parish School Board desegregation case to court for an evidentiary hearing on the hiring of a white woman for head girls' basketball coach of Ponchatoula High.

The Daily Star reports (http://bit.ly/1dSD92c ) the hearing - which was initially denied - was requested by plaintiffs' attorney Nelson Taylor, who opposed the hiring of Ponchatoula High teacher Patricia Landaiche.

The hearing is scheduled for Nov. 25 in U.S. District Court in New Orleans.

Taylor claimed the school board and Superintendent Mark Kolwe passed up a highly qualified black man for the job. However, Kolwe and the board contest they followed all policies of U.S. District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle's consent decree.
