NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Torrential rains on Thursday required closure of the Kisatchie Bayou Slough Bridge. It's located along the Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway in southern Natchitoches Parish.  More than seven inches of rain fell in less than a 24-hour period, flooding the temporary crossing.

Officials will assess the damages after the water has receded.  Forest visitor traffic coming from the Louisiana Highway 117 area will be detoured around Louisiana Highway 118 and Forest Service road #360.

Any traffic coming from the eastern end of the Kisatchie Ranger District, particularly from Louisiana Highway 119,  will still have access to camps and trails, but there will be no traffic through until the servitude has been repaired.

The bridge is under construction by James Construction of Baton Rouge There is no estimated time of repair at this writing.  For more information contact the Kisatchie Ranger Office at 318 472-1840.
