A pleasant weather pattern continued on this Monday as has been the case for the month (thus far).
A fresh chill greeted early commuters as temperatures fell into the 40s. Winnfield and Esler Airport were the cool spots at 41 degrees. Simmesport reported 48 degrees, and was followed closely by Ville Platte and DeRidder at 47. The 30-year daily average is 49 degrees and the record low is 21 set in 1899.
Clouds mixed with sunshine during the afternoon as high temperatures ranged through the 70s. Esler Airport, Bellwood, Ball/Tioga, and Colfax all hit 76 degrees while Winnfield reported 71 degrees. The 30-year daily average is 74 and the record is 87 set in 1948.
Moisture will increase Tuesday and Wednesday as an upper-level trough lifts out of the western U.S. into the Plains. The trough will help push a cold front into the area Wednesday. Rain and a few thunderstorms should occur with this front.
