New Home for CLTCC

Posted: Updated:

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Central Louisiana Technical Community College released a request for proposals and now multiple institutions and business have the chance to become the new home of the College.

After months of waiting Cenla developers and landowners will now get their chance to become the new home for the Central Louisiana Technical Community College.

"They'll actually be going through the process of taking in those proposals and assessing them and providing a final decision by early part of next year," said Rodney Ellis.

A request for proposals from the Louisiana Community and Technical College System outlines the needs for the new campus. At LSUA, one of the interested parties, this means tweaking some aspects of their original proposal.

"I think the value of what we presented in the proposal addresses a lot of these areas, it's just a matter of connecting the dots better now that we know some of the keys things, the priorities they're looking for," said Paul Coreil.

Giving the College System a lot to choose from.

"LSUA has expressed interest, downtown obviously, the city of Pineville, England Air Authority. There are some others that have come and let me know that they have some land for us if we want to buy it," said Ellis.

Creating the potential for growth in Central Louisiana.

"And I think you'll have a healthful competition that hopefully will lead to a solution set given to CLTCC to locate here and expand," said Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy.

The deadline for final proposals is January 21st. The Louisiana Community and Technical College System says they hope to have a decision soon afterwards.
