RPSO: Escaped inmate turns himself in to authorities

UPDATE: The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office said that Nathaniel White, 33, of Alexandria turned himself into authorities Friday morning.

White was allegedly picked up by Cynthia Clifton, 51, of Alexandria on Wednesday from a work site. He was supposed to wait for a deputy to pick him up after his shift. 

No other details have been released.

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel  5) – Authorities are searching for a Rapides Parish work release inmate that walked off a work site Wednesday night.

According to Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office, Nathaniel Lamont White, 33, of Alexandria was picked up by a subject Wednesday .  Deputies arrived to pick him up after his shift and that's when they discovered him missing.

Deputies with Corrections Security Section are investigating and one arrest has been made.

Cynthia Marie Clifton, 51 of Alexandria, was arrested for accessory after the fact to simple escape.  Investigators said they have determined Clifton was the one who picked up White from his place of work.  Investigators are interviewing other possible accomplices in this case.

 The U S Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force is also assisting in this investigation. 

White is described as a black male,six foot two, 230 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, has a tattoo of "LIL SLIM" inside his left arm.  White is currently serving a sentence for felony theft.
