AVOYELLES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5) – A Pineville was killed early Thursday morning.

Louisiana State Troopers responded to the crash around 4:30 a.m., which occurred on Louisiana Highway 107 at Scroggs Road.  The crash involved an 18-wheeler, driven by 58-year-old Elton McNeal of Effie, and a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by 41-year-old Kevin G. Herron of Pineville, according to state troopers.

The Kawasaki was southbound on Louisiana Highway 107 when the 18-wheeler exited a private driveway and entered Louisiana Highway 107.  This action placed the 18-wheeler in the direct travel path of the Kawasaki, resulting in a collision.

McNeal was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.  He was charged with failure to yield.

Herron was wearing a helmet, but was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending.  The investigation is ongoing.
