BOYCE, La. (KALB News Channel  5) – A Boyce woman has been charged with theft and forgery.

According to Rapides Parish Sheriff's Department, they arrested 29-year-old Sarah Marie McNulty on Nov. 7, but it was Oct. 26, when the investigation on McNulty originally began.

On Oct. 26, RPSO was dispatched to George Road in Boyce in reference to a theft.  The complainant reported that a subject stole checks and cash more than $700 of forged checks from an elderly victim.

There were also several prescription medications allegedly missing from the residence .  The investigation revealed McNulty had been employed with a local in home health care agency that allowed her access to the victim's residence, according to RPSO.  McNulty began stealing from the victim's checking account by stealing checks from her checkbook, forging them and cashing them at a local business.

RPSO also said that McNulty was using the checks to make payments on her utility bills.

She was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.   Deputies also said they found her in possession of oxycodone concealed.

She is officially charged with 35 counts of forgery, one count of theft of the assets of an aged person or disabled person, and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility.

Her bond is set at $56,500.
