Tuesday was a day of weather changes as a strong cold front swept through central Louisiana during the morning.
The presence of the front was most evident in the pattern of afternoon maximum temperatures. Winnfield only reached 55 degrees, with Williana at 56 and Natchez, Miss. next in line with 57. Grand Coteau reported 71 and Eunice 70 degrees. The daily average is 71 degrees and the record is 87 in 1896.
The first freeze of the fall will occur tonight over most of the region. Mimimum temperatures Wednesday morning will fall into the upper 20s over northern sections while areas near Interstate 10 will likely stay around 33 or 34 degrees. It's a pets and plants night!
