Alexandria man dies in two vehicle crash

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - An Alexandria man is dead after a Tuesday morning crash at the intersection of Foisy and Fulton Streets.

According to the Alexandria Police Department, Darrell Jones, 27, was taken to a local hospital after the 6:35 a.m. crash and pronounced dead.

Witnesses told APD that Jones was traveling southbound through the intersection during a green when a 2007 Saturn Vue ran their red light and hit the driver's side of Jones's Mercury Grand Marquis.

APD said the driver of the Vue, Shani Hataway, 41, of Pollock, was also taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Also in the vehicle with Jones was Janet Yancy, 28, of Alexandria, and a 1-year-old boy. Yancy was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries. The boy received minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
