CAMP BEAUREGARD, La. (KALB News Channel 5) - Three soldiers wounded in action overseas were honored at Camp Beauregard.

The soldiers were each given a Purple Heart at a ceremony at Camp Beauregard.

Sergeant Thomas Healy and Specialists Jamaal Clark and Williams Hernandez were wounded in action during operations in Afghanistan in 2012 and 2013.
For the soldiers and their families they say their thoughts are with those still serving overseas.

"It's rather bittersweet, my brothers at arms are still at combat in Afghanistan. I wish that they could be here with me so they could partake in this, and some of them will never be able to enjoy this," said Hernandez.

The Purple Heart is the oldest military decoration in the world that is still in use.
