McAllister: Election Reaction

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) released the following statement this evening following Vance McAllister's election to the United States House of Representatives as the Representative-elect for Louisiana's 5th District:

"Congratulations are in order tonight for Representative-elect Vance McAllister following his victory in Louisiana's 5th District special election. A self-made businessman and Louisiana native, Vance's priorities of fiscal responsibility and accountability will be an excellent addition to Louisiana's delegation here in the Washington. As a veteran, it's clear that Vance is committed to fighting for our country and for the principles that we hold dear.  I know that Vance will continue Rodney Alexander's record of fighting for commonsense policies and strong fiscal discipline here in Washington. I look forward to working with Vance as we fight back against ObamaCare and this Administration's expensive, big-government, tax and spend policies."

Louisiana GOP Chairman Roger Villere extended congratulations to Congressman-elect Vance McAllister Saturday evening as voters from the Fifth Congressional District elected McAllister to replace retiring Congressman Rodney Alexander.

"I would like to extend my sincerest congratulations to Vance McAllister for his victory tonight to become the next Congressman representing Louisiana's Fifth Congressional District," Villere said. "This has been a hard fought race and I commend Neil Riser for his willingness to serve the people of Louisiana. We look forward to continuing to work with Senator Riser as he fights for conservative values in Baton Rouge."

"It is clear that the people of the Fifth Congressional District rejected the extreme policies of the state and national Democrat party. Once again, the voters of the Fifth Congressional District have decided to send a conservative Republican to represent them in the nation's capitol."

"Mary Landrieu should take special notice of the results of this election. This race proves that Louisianians want leaders who will shake up the liberal establishment in Washington," Villere stated.
