RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB News Channel 5)

According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office, on November 14, Deputies assigned to the RPSO Metro Division initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Jeannette and Meyer Streets for failure to signal a turn. Deputies regularly receive complaints from residents in the area about drug activity. According to RPSO, two occupants of the vehicle began moving around the cabin abruptly. Deputies contacted the driver, Emmanuel Robert, 24, of Lecompte and briefed him on the reason for the traffic stop. RPSO said Robert and the front seat passenger, Gregory Martin, 19, of Hineston appeared unusually nervous. Deputies detected the odor of marijuana and noticed small pieces of suspected marijuana on the driver’s seat.

RPSO said during the course of the investigation and subsequent search, deputies located several grams of Methamphetamine, Hydrocodone pills, several types of Xanax pills, Soma tablets and assorted other unknown pills. A marijuana grinder and methamphetamine pipe were also located. RPSO said Robert and Martin were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center and booked. Both are being held on $30,560.00 bond.
